Heavy-Duty Press Welded Steel Bar Gratings to Service Applications Subject to Heavy Rolling and Static Loads

Our Heavy Duty steel bar grating (HD Grating for short) is designed to subject itself to heavy rolling and static loads such as highways, plant floors, loading docks, inlet covers, and airports, and therefore its bearing bars are thicker and much deeper than our Standard Duty steel bar grating (SD Grating for short), allowing HD Grating to handle heavier loads.

Our HD Grating is manufactured by an electro-forging process, in which connecting cross members (cold twisted square steel bars or round rods) are resistance welded at a right angle to mild carbon steel bars (bearing bars). During the process, the bearing bars and cross members are permanently forged together by heat and pressure into a single unit construction. Therefore, our HD Grating is also known as Heavy Duty press welded steel grating.

The electro-forging process provides a positive fused connection that makes our HD Grating very durable even under the most demanding conditions.

As a rule, our Heavy Duty steel bar gratings are made out of cold rolled Q235 steel shapes. However, there is an exception that both the serrated type of bearing bars and I-bar type of bearing bars are hot rolled Q235 steel shapes.
